Organic

Well, today was interesting.  I heard that one of my good friends' grandpas died this week, so that is kind of a bummer.  His funeral is next Saturday, so I will hopefully be able to send them a card or call or something.  I even remembered him a little bit, and had met him twice.  Grampy, they called him.  Anyways, that is rambling a little.

I spent about five hours today in the organic lab tearing petals off of bitterweed (a very aptly named weed) in order to extract the dye, and I am exhausted.  It's amazing how tired monotonous work can make a person.  And yes, I know it's Saturday, but I don't have a life besides school, so I might as well spend it in the lab, if anywhere.  I am so sick sometimes of school and books and homework, but there's simply no other option.  Every time I finish one bit of homework, there is always something else I have to do, and then the day is over.  I can't describe how much I'm looking forward to going home this Christmas; so much more so than last year.

Also, I recently got two new cds fairly cheap on Amazon, and would like to recommend them.  "Under the Iron Sea," by Keane, and "Urban Hymns," by the Verve.  Excellent, excellent music if you like piano rock and strong vocals.

Discovery of the Wheel

Well, I feel like I should post a wee bit of an update here, seeing as how it's been a while since I wrote last. The summer went really well, being back home working at the cannery. My best friend Josh and I hung out quite a bit, so that was really cool. Now, of course, I am back in Texas, which is so-so. First of all, it's NOVEMBER, it should not be 75 and sunny outside. Every morning I wear my winter coat in a sort of vain protest against the unseasonable weather, and hopefully the weather will notice my lonely stand for cold sometime.

Classes are insane, the work load is really more than I've ever faced before, but I'm getting through it, with a good deal of help from the Lord. Since I never post blogs, nobody will probably notice I have a new one, so if you're reading this, bonus points on observational power! I head back to Oregon in about a month or so, I don't really know exact dates, but I am definitely looking forward to it. I wouldn't trade my time here for anything, don't get me wrong, but there's always the absense of home to deal with. Anyways, just thought I'd post a quickish update on life, and I hope everyone is well!

Going home soon

Well, it's that time of year, time to head home from Texas. Trust me, I'm ready. I have one month to un-learn how to say "y'all", which will be tough. Hey, at least I don't say "y'all" referring to one person! Anyways, I'm going home on Thursday, and I should be back home in time to watch the final NBA game, assuming Miami doesn't win before that. I'll be back at the cannery for the summer; something I'm both looking forward to and disappointed of. It's not exactly the place I would choose to spend the majority of my already limited time home, but I know I need to, and I did enjoy my job. It'll be awesome to see some of my friends again, as many as I can while I'm back, and try to catch up where we left off. Well, there's a thunderstorm going on outside (one of the few things I will miss about Texas), so I'd better turn my computer off.
